holiday for christmas! anurag tipped me that cozy's aquarium was having a close-down sale. so, sabari and i rushed to the same. same story - most aquariums on sale were very expensive. these were the moulded ones - the ones that have rounded edges. thankfully, it stuck me that we could buy one of their display aquariums instead. and yes, they were on sale too! the square ones were for rs.500! made of 6mm glass and an excellent finish and 1.5ft of depth, they were a steal alright. but tinnu was no tiny fish... he's going to grow almost to 1ft. and a turtle tank should be atleast 10times its body-length. tinnu's now 6inches, so we need a tank close to 60inches/5ft. and the longest tank they had was 4ft with 1.5ft depth. booked it for rs1.8k after some modest bargaining. another rs200 to get it transported home. it was to be washed/scrubbed clean of water-stains/deposits and packed and transported home in a few days, after i had moved to a new home. this tank was far sturdier than any other i had seen.
this weekend was also when i finalised on the new place, paid the initial deposit and packed and moved. on sunday, it was my birthday: i told tinnu so and he blew me a few air bubbles! we moved on the 27th. tinnu and his old aquarium travelled with me, while the rest of the stuff went into a van.
set up tinnu's old aqua first thing. then rushed to cosy's in the evening and had the bigger aqua delivered/setup in the bedroom beside the window and closer to the bathroom so i could change the water easily. the filter worked very well. i also bought a fishing net to fish tinnu's poop out, instead of letting it dissolve in the water. his shedding had reduced, but it was still running its course. the filter kinda took care of that and the water remained clean for longer.
